I wouldn’t hesitate to say even those who read this website often aren’t aware of NOBULL. I’ve dropped countless posts about the team who decided against attempting to enter the market by competing directly with the giants. NOBULL came to the biz by going after a demographic forced into a brand relationship through CrossFit. That community wasn’t happy with the products offered and of course the big gun dropped a sneaker, but the chatter was still about shoes which didn’t quite work as truly as the athletes wanted. Enter NOBULL. The brand took over the reins of CrossFit and they’ve since rolled out Golf footwear and apparel and now they are on the precipice of asking another niche sport to rock with the Horns.

The Court Trainer features the same no frills design language, with a focus on the most important aspects of performance, the outsole and the upper. Where the brand traditionally settles for a wider base on their outsoles in their performance trainers, the Court Trainer opts for a traditional herringbone pattern that extends higher on the midsole for those toe drags that happen when playing tennis. They continue to use the Superfabric in the upper to prevent rips and tears on any playing surface. In creating this model, the company has finally ventured into a sport where they can comfortably transition into basketball or futsal. Why is this important?

Visibility. NOBULL is primarily a DTC brand. This limits the number of people who run into the kicks. While a widespread wholesale tactic doesn’t seem to be in the cards, expanding into every niche sport allows for more brand awareness and interest from sports enthusiasts looking for a new company to try out. With endorsements across CrossFit and Golf, an endorsement in tennis could be the big break NOBULL needs to go from their silent growth to a full-blown breakthrough.
