In the turbulent times of 2020, everyone seems to be looking for a way to protest or speak out; whether it be for equality, representation or justice. While I don’t mean for Women’s World Wednesdays to be political or some self-proclaimed crusade of social justice, I thought it was important to shine a light on women in music. It’s of course easy to talk about the big stars such as Beyonce or Rihanna, but for this series I want to focus on lesser known artists.

This Women’s World spotlight shines on Sa-Roc

Sa-Roc is not a new artist, but she’s an incredible rapper and should be much more recognized than she is. Her lyrics are on the level of rappers like Pharoahe Monch (who also is terribly underrated). Unlike several of the artists I’ve covered in this series, Sa-Roc has almost no shortage of music. As of right now, she has over ten albums and EPs, with a new album, “The Sharecropper’s Daughter” coming on October 2nd. As incredible as she is, I must admit that it would definitely help if her beats were a little stronger on some songs, but this isn’t a huge problem, especially with such thought and talent put into the content of the lyrics. As she says in her song WMNS Air Jordan 14 Retro Low | Love Letter to Her DH4121-300,  “I will not be the perception of a female with a mic, cause I choose not to stimulate erections when I write”
