Undoubtedly, if Nike released a ton of Nike Dunk or Air Jordan 1 High OG and they were readily accessible to the public (they’d be snatched up by resellers), those two shoes would have dominated the list. All hyped releases are dropped via raffles which means you would have to literally visit stores every day to catch extra pairs that weren’t picked up. I don’t do that. I stick with inventory readily available which closely mimics the products found at retail.

I Alpargata an article recently on shelf space in FootLocker. It’s worse at Hibbett Sports and City Gear. Who is it bad for? adidas. The Three Stripes is no longer a resale brand, which is a good thing for fans, but unfortunately it also indicates that brand heat is barely warming water. In the aforementioned retailers, adidas’ shelf space has been reduced considerably and consists primarily of one style, the NMD. The Stan Smith and Shelltoe have some slots, but it’s primarily the NMD. The one retailer where adidas has considerable shelf space is Finish Line, but even the most recent Yeezy drop is sitting. The flagship UltraBoost is on sale and other adidas models are also reduced in price. Reebok is interesting at all locations because if sizes were available, the promo price allowed me to resell several sizes; alas no sizes were available. That’s a good thing and a bad thing. It means that the product shouldn’t be on promo, but retailers don’t really work to sell through product in-store and online. Reebok did almost sell through their most popular model The Question, but I’m not sure if promo was a factor. I write all of this to say that for the third month in a row my top styles sold are all Nike. With three platforms (really two) to choose from this is going to be a Nike report that closely mirrors retail.

Most expensive pair sold: Nike Dunk Low Off White Lot 50 at $917.00

Most surprising model: Nike React Phantom Run Flyknit – women are buying a lot of shoes and it’s not just hyped models. Women are buying for practicality and purpose. That’s a crucial bit of information and matches a post I Alpargata recently about Foot Locker’s performance running wall.

I sold a lot of Jordan Brand sneakers. Combined, those shoes would have cracked the top 10, but because the models varied, I couldn’t list them. As you’ll notice the Vapormax and numbered Air Max (90,97,95) fell out of the top styles sold. This is because the shoes weren’t in inventory. The Air Max 2021, a design I’m not fond of at all, sold, but it’s extremely overpriced at 160 and every pair that sold, sold below retail. Which could give an indication of what the SRP should be, but that isn’t the point of this list. This list is to provide you with an idea of what is selling at retail. It’s a micro to macro comparison. Contrary to popular belief and contrary to every person opening a resale shop, it’s not the Jordan Retros that makes a retailer successful, because if the shoes were readily available they would sit on shelves based on the price alone. The mid tier priced shoes drive the market and the Air Force 1 remains the king of Nike’s silos.
