New Balance Numeric and professional skateboarder Tiago Lemos release his second signature model the 808, the newest model in NB Numeric’s offering of skateboard footwear launching on September 1st.
The NB550 continues to hit resale and perform well at retail. The retro basketball model never did what the Dunk or Blazer did for Nike in crossing over to the skate marketplace. I guess it wasn’t really possible considering the 550 was a sneaker worn by James Worthy and it never really caught on in the 80s or 90s as an option for fans of basketball kicks. The recent retro trend and fog efforts lifted the model back to relevancy, but it remains firmly cemented in sneaker in hype and sneaker resale. New Balance has long been in the skateboard area and the models they’ve released have been reported as very good skate shoes, but they haven’t really made any noise outside of what they were designed for. The latest Numeric 808, could be model which shifts Numeric into the more coveted lane for sneaker hype. The shoe looks a lot like the Spiridon and the simple design will allow for some interesting colors. What do you think of this latest Numeric for Tiago?
