The use of the word “take” is intentional. While MIRUM® is available for companies to utilize in the journey towards more sustainably made, eco-friendly sneakers, Allbirds announced their connection to NFW in 2021:

Instead of moving into production and working on concepts that would expand their footwear line to a more diverse product mix, Allbirds literally failed to discuss the material or wolf and deliver any products featuring MIRUM®. Camper is the first brand to market with MIRUM®.
Camper, a family-owned brand from Mallorca, isn’t a staple in sneaker discussions. To be honest, I’d heard of the brand, but I have never shared information about their sneakers. I’ve been tracking and monitoring NFW and their products. It’s fair to say that MIRUM® made this introduction, but Camper patent on its own. With 400 stores, half a billion in revenue and a wealth of options from sandals to boots and their own CamperLab, where they make limited, innovative products, Camper can be placed in the same category of high-end fashion sneakers delivered in curated brand doors.
The K21 MIRUM® looks like leather. This shoe does not have the same appearance as many of the cactus and pineapple leathers being touted as vegan options. Here is the description of Camper’s Runner: Adopting the logic that renewable plant sources grow abundantly on the earth, Natural Fiber Welding set out to develop a 100% plant-based material with zero plastics or synthetic fibers. Made from all-natural materials like coconut husk, rice hull, rubber, and cork, the unique plant-based composition of MIRUM® makes it sustainable and circular, meaning a product can be disassembled and recycled at the end of its life.
A more conscious consumer is looking beyond logos and considering the impact of their consumption. Camper dropped two colorways, but you’ll have to act fast to pick up a pair of the K21. They are almost sold out on the site, which is good to see. The court style here is very similar to the Karhu Trampas, one of my favorite kicks. It’s a simple, elegant sneaker which features one of the best innovations in materials. Allbirds had an opportunity to create magic and a silhouette unlike anything they’ve every released. Instead, I’ve been introduced to Camper and K21 made more responsibly than many shoes being touted as sustainable.
