In 2016 I wrote an article discussing how big brands could learn from small retailers like Kith and Bodega.

I’ve maintained that as brands shift to DTC and traditional retailers like FootLocker and Finish Line cater to the youth culture demographic, an overlooked segment of the market is willing to spend a bit more for an elevated experience. As we exit quarantine and restrictive Covid-19 regulations, I believe consumers, me included, will look for a more luxurious and thoughtful experience in our lives.

W|21 by ECCO https://w-21.nl/ is the experiential retail that will connect with the consumer in a much more elevated manner. The Denmark shop features limited release collections from the brand in a space that looks more like an art gallery than a shoe store. A few years ago Boston boutique Bodega introduced Series: http://seriesbybodega.com/ That concept took limited concepts and featured them in a space designed around the merchandise. This is the future of retail in a post Covid world.
